keelercomic-2Growing closer to people and enjoying creation is a great way to grow closer to God. You may be one of those enthusiasts for whom camping represents the ultimate getaway. Or, you may be someone who prefers to “camp” in the comfortable bed of a five star hotel. No matter your preference for actual camping, there is an opportunity to broaden one’s circle of fellowship and expand your relationship with God.

Some people love the interaction with others, while some just like a quiet place to lay down and observe nature. I know that when I go to Dakota, I love being around people, seeing the ways they act outside of the busy city life, or expanding my limited interactions that I get with them at church. I get to see people on a whole new level while having some fun along the way. Growing closer to people is a way I can also grow closer to God. The more that I get to interact with people outside of the church walls, the more relatable we can be. Being part of a Family is knowing people on more than just a surface level. Since Keizer is our Church Family, this is an opportunity to get to know my family a little more intimately.1998-11-08

With Yurts and Cabins and fun activities, it is a good mix of “real” camping and having some creature comforts (one of my personal favorites is having the camp store deliver a latte to my tent). Sometimes, it is nice to just get away and enjoy Gods creation without technology getting in the way. A great advantage of being together as a church family is the opportunity to provide the children of our congregation with a community of caring adults who share a love for Christ. Camp Dakota provides us with so many opportunities. Whether you like to socialize, exercise, or have quiet time, getting to do it with God as a center focus is an amazing opportunity and something we need to make sure we take advantage of. I look forward to seeing people this weekend and creating new opportunities.
